After the pandemic-related travel restrictions prevented us from entering Indonesia for more than one and a half year, we finally made our field survey in Sulawesi in November and December 2021. Despite the difficult circumstances, we successfully collected the data required for the EISA report on the Bakaru II hydropower plant on fish fauna and macroinvertebrates in the Mamasa and Sadan Rivers in South Sulawesi. The strongly fluctuating and sometimes very high discharge during the rainy season did not stop us from the field work. Thanks to the great on-site support from Ricky Adrianto, Elvis Bataragoa (University of Manado) and the local people, we were able to achieve all our research goals in the small but flexible team.
